A Dozen Late Summer 'Auto-Paloozas' you won't want to miss
As you begin to recover from Monterey Car Week, get ready to plunge in again and head to tons of automotive events from coast to coast. Here are 12 late summer “auto-paloozas” that are absolutely worth visiting if you’re in the area:
Aug. 22 – Corvettes at Carlisle, Carlisle PA
More than 5,000 Corvettes and their owners come together for this lovefest featuring a parade, swap meet and car corral.
Aug. 22-24 – Goodguys 28th Annual West Coast Nationals, Pleasanton CA
You’ll see over 3,500 hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars and trucks through 1972, as well as a swap meet and corral.
Aug. 23 – Morgan Adams Concours, Englewood, CO
Fly in for a closer look at cars, motorcycles and planes, all displayed around a local airport hangar.
Aug. 27-31 – ACD Festival, Auburn, IN
It’s a “Deusie! Get your fill of Auburns, Cords and Duesenbergs, as well as a televised auction featuring a 2003 Mercury Messenger concept car.
Aug. 28-Sept. 1 –Historic Festival 32, Lime Rock Park, Salisbury, CT
You get 265-car vintage racing, a “Sunday in the Park” concours and five of Ralph Lauren’s rarely seen rides.
Sept. 5 – Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival, Watkins Glen, NY
Vintage cars, racers and otherwise, traverse the original road course and spectators are treated to two – count ‘em – two car shows, as well as a fireworks display.
Sept. 7 – Pacific Northwest Concours d’ Elegance, Tacoma, WA
This annual show is hosted by the new and spectacular LeMay-America’s Car Museum and features a wide range of classics, muscle cars and motorcycles.
Sept. 12-14 – 18th Annual Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance, Malvern, PA
This year’s event highlights classic Chryslers and vintage marques powered by Ford. There’s also a road rally and motorcycle exhibition.
Sept. 19-21 – Stan Hywet Concours, Akron, OH
Held on the former estate of a co-founder of Goodyear Tire & Rubber, this year’s event features the only surviving Lincoln Continental prototype.
Sept. 19-21 – Sebring Thunder V, Sebring, FL
This annual event attracts vintage rides from all over Florida and includes a car show, with registered owners able to cruise Sebring International Raceway.
Sept. 19-21 – British Invasion, Stowe, VT
Blimey! This is New England’s largest gathering and celebration of British marques. There's a concours, corral and even tailgating. Bring your bangers and mash.
Sept. 21 – Motorcars at the Mansion, Old Westbury, NY
Held on the former Phipps estate, this show is hosted by the local Porsche Club of America chapter, but it’s also open to BMW and Mercedes owners.
